High heels and diapers are a fashion 'don't'
Posted 7/29/2010 7:10:00 AM

I admit to being a 'girlie-girl' in my love for shoes.  I love all kinds of shoes; heels, flats, stillettos, booties, sandals, wedges, kitten heels, etc.  I love them all.

I did however, find the limit in my love for all things footwear when I was flipping through a magazine, and came across a picture of a four year old in a pair of heels.

She was not playing 'dress up', she was not caught in her mom's closet trying on her shoes, these heels were fit for teeny weeny little feet.  She looked like she was four going on fourteen.

Most girls remember their first pair of heels… I got mine for my grade 8 graduation, and I remember practicing walking around my bedroom with a book on my head to keep my balance so I wouldn’t trip when I went up to get my certificate.

Shoes are special, and guys may not get this, but here is a little look inside the mind of a girl... Sometimes the choice of footwear is significant to what is going on in the life of a girl.  Grown up shoes are for grown up occasions, and a girls' first pair of heels are a big deal, just like your first bra, or getting your ears pierced.

A lot of little girls love to play dress up, and most of us at some time or another have tried on our mom's shoes, but high heels and diapers are a definite 'fashion don't'.

Sometimes we make our little girls grow up too fast.  In my world,  four year old feet belong in white knee-sock and mary janes, not inside high heels.
